I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Visionist, Inc. (Columbia, MD) in Jan 2014
Interview
I sent my resume to their recruiter by email. I was asked to do a phone interview, which took about half an hour. She was really nice, and seemed just as concerned about me liking the company as she was about the company liking me. I got to describe my interests, classes taken, strengths and weaknesses, and so on. At the end of the call she invited me to come down for an in-person interview in a few weeks.
The in-person interview was at their headquarters in Columbia, although a lot of their work is done at other sites, depending on the contract. The recruiter met me at the door, offered me water or pizza (they were just finishing lunch), and gave me a short tour. We ended up in a conference room and were joined by the vice president and four engineers. The interview felt comfortable and informal: no technical questions or drawing on a whiteboard, and I was encouraged to ask lots of questions of them. They all seemed eager to tell me why they love Visionist so much. It seemed like a great group of people, and I can't wait to start!
Interviewing with Visionist was hands down the best interview experience I have ever been through. They did an incredible job at making me feel comfortable and basically turned the interview into a really great conversation. Due to distance, my interview was via Skype, however it was a panel-like conversation with several engineers and other members of the company including the president. A lot of it was asking about what I've worked on the past and my honest opinions on it along with what I could see myself working on/with in the future. In that sense it was fairly technical as we went into detail on different tech stacks and things of that nature.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
As previously mentioned, the interview was very much just a conversation so there were no real distinct questions. We did talk about a lot of technical things along with how/where I see my career going.

Interview
A very different interview as to what you may be accustomed or expecting. They do group style interviews; you pretty much sit in their conference room with around 5 to 6 Visionist employees (all engineers) and they just listen to you talk about to what you know and where you'd like to go as a professional. A very great way to find out immediately if you are going to fit in with the team and company culture.
