Interview process took 4-6 weeks. Started off with a zoom with 2 people. The HR person asked a few basic behavioral questions and employment questions (work on site). The IT manager explained the companies core values and how the founder started the company. Then asked a little about my background. The next interview was with the IT manager, 2 mechanical engineers, 1 software developer. Asked about my background again and basic questions like what I like to do for fun nothing difficult. The third interview was quite challenging. They asked me to create a presentation about the companies current mobile apps, what I like and dislike, improvements I would recommend. Tell about a mobile app I made and were most proud of and what I learned and would do differently. After I presented this on site in front of the team, they asked a couple of questions. The IT manager was not present for any part of this interview which I thought was strange. After the presentation I had a quick 10 minute quiz which was so easy I thought they were joking, just a for loop that printed out "c","o""m","p","t","e","r". Once I finished that they asked me to create a Xcode & Android Studio project on a computer and gave me 15 minutes to make an alarm clock. The task was somewhat vague, requiring significant setup, and I ultimately ran out of time. This portion of the interview felt made up on the spot, and it was unclear whether the company was seriously looking to fill the position or simply meeting a quota of interviews. The two mechanical engineers with no software experience, along with a newly hired software developer, clearly never interviewed anyone before. We then went to eat lunch at a local place and talk about how everyone found the company, what they like about it, what each other does for fun. After lunch they said they would get back to me quickly as they were interested. I then received a rejection email with the feedback that I did not provide any leadership examples. While I would have gladly shared my leadership experiences, I was never asked about it once during any of the interviews.
