      Operations Specialist Interview

      5 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at WIRB (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I was required to complete a job-fit assessment from a company called Outmatched. A day or two later I was pre-screened by the company recruiter, who reprimanded me for my answers to the first few interview questions. Nevertheless, I "passed" his screening and moved on to the main event. A week later I interviewed via Zoom with an HR person and a manager. Simple interview, but could feel their disapproval through the screen. Very dull interview for a very dull dead-end job.

      Question 1

Can you accept criticism? Can you meet deadlines? Can you work at least 10 hours of overtime per week? Can you sit for long periods of time? Can you work independently? Tell me about a conflict and how you handled it.

      7 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Puyallup, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at WIRB (Puyallup, WA) in Mar 2018

      Interview

Applied online. Was emailed to set up a phone interview after completing five different assessments. Typing skills, etc. I agree with the person before me, it was more like 70 percent them explaining the company and the position over and over again and 40 percent them asking about you. Was denied by email too.

      21 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Puyallup, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at WIRB (Puyallup, WA) in Sept 2016

      Interview

A 5-Part Assessment test followed by a one-on-one interview, then a 3-Person panel interview a week later. The interviewers had an easy, casual style to the process. Questions focused on how long I'd done this sort of work, my ability to keep on task and follow instructions, etc. The interview was maybe 40 percent questions and answers with 60 percent them saying how great the company is. Later I was informed the panel felt I wasn't a good fit for the company. I asked for specifics, which I would have accepted as constructive criticism, but they refused to elaborate beyond the vague "not a good fit." I'm left then to assume their reason must have been discriminatory which is why they're afraid to tell me.

We appreciate your feedback. Our interview panel for this position is normally comprised three members from Operations department. We find this to be in the best interest of the candidates and the department. Our panel members have the experience to not only understand a candidate’s fit for our role, based on responses to our interview questions, but the team can also provide information on the day-to-day of the position. We understand the answer “not a good fit” might seem vague, but the panel members truly understanding of what it takes to be successful in the department and not an act of discrimination.
