Bottom line: Although the individuals I spoke with were polite, the hiring process itself was disorganized, opaque, and showed a clear lack of respect for candidates’ time. If you expect timely communication, basic follow-through, or professional courtesy, this may not be the right organization to engage with.
I had a disappointing overall experience interviewing with Water for Good. The process was unreasonably long and marked by a lack of communication and clarity at nearly every stage.
The first step was a one-way video interview with around ten questions about my background. Next was a half-hour interview with the HR Manager and CAO. They asked about my experience, education, and skillset, and I had a chance to ask questions. I was told they weren’t sure when the next step would happen because the hiring manager was on leave.
I followed up a week later to ask about scheduling the third interview and received no reply. Over two more weeks passed without any communication. Eventually, I heard back and scheduled a final interview at their Bentonville office with the Accounting Manager and CPO. That interview went well—they asked background, personality, and technical questions—and said they’d let me know the following week.
No update ever came. The entire next week passed with silence. I finally emailed again the following Monday to check in and was soon sent a generic rejection email.
In total, the process from application to rejection took 43 days—and the position is still open.
