Applied for a Supervisory role. All my experience was a dead-on match to the job req.
Great phone interview with the recruited which last about an hour. Was very positive, and had an immediate request for a 1:1 interview with the Director of the department which was set up that same week. Interview with the Director lasted an hour (could have gone a lot longer), and was extremely positive. Was even told that the job was open because there was no one internal that was 'stepping up to the plate as hoped.' To an external applicant this was great to hear because a lot of companies focus on hiring within which doesn't always bode well.
Was invited back early the next week for a four hour panel interview which all went perfectly. I met several Supervisors from neighboring departments, the Manager of Recruiting, the COO, and two of the team I was applying to Supervise. Each conversation went better than the last. I got several 'impressive' nods and immediately bonded with the would be new team.
Unfortunately, after the panel interview communication was sparse. I followed up a few times to be told they were still reviewing applicants. Two weeks later I received a personalized email from the recruiter telling me they were giving the internal candidate a second chance.
I wish this could have been realized before I spent 60.00 in parking fees. The interview itself was very position even thought the outcome was not.
