I was contacted by a Talent Acquisition Partner and scheduled an interview. I was initially excited, but the interview quickly felt unstructured and poorly led. It gave the impression that the interviewer had limited experience conducting interviews.
I was asked about a gap on my résumé, which I explained was due to relocation and part-time work that I chose not to include to keep my résumé concise. When I mentioned that my CCNA certification had expired, the interviewer then asked me how recertification works, explaining that he had recently earned his own CCNA and wanted to understand how credits apply. At that point, the conversation felt less like an interview and more like an informal discussion, which was concerning.
I was then told that I was likely not a good fit because I have approximately two years of experience, while the role requires three to five. That feedback felt rigid, especially given that the interview had already been scheduled and my experience was clearly visible on my résumé.
The interviewer said he would follow up with his team regarding next steps, but I later received a generic rejection email. There was no follow-up call or meaningful feedback after what was, overall, a disappointing interview experience.
