      Cloud Developer Interview

      19 Jul 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Harrisburg, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Workxpress (Harrisburg, PA) in Mar 2015

      Interview

I came in twice for this interview process. The first time was a test of my knowledge and the second time was to review my test results and go over the job in more detail. This interview was a nightmare and I would never recommend interviewing to anyone. It was about 4 months ago and I still carry around hatred of the things that they said. Since this position was described as entry level, I felt that they should not be evaluating my exam with the intensity and disrespect that they did. This exam was very difficult and they had no respect for me being there to consider them as a potential employer. Comments were made about me using the bathroom because of my long drive. They did not pay for parking or gas for this long commute. I was told this is a collaborative and fun company to work for and yet not a single person in the office was speaking or collaborating. I was told it was a salaried position but I would need to potentially put in 60 to 80 hours a week for a small amount of compensation ($28,000). They had said my lack of knowledge would lead to smaller salary essentially telling me I am stupid. They also disrespected my knowledge of the topic that this exam was based on. They picked apart every answer of the exam telling me why I was wrong which confused me since they should have just said you did not perform well and not have me back. If this is how the treat you before you start working there, I wonder how it is after. At the end of the interview when I knew I could not deal with this much disrespect, they told me to really think about if I could handle this brutal environment and let them know. Obviously, I told them no thank you professionally but I have no respect for the men who conducted the interview and more specifically the CEO. Good Luck!

Wow, that sounds like an awful experience, we apologize for that! Please don't carry the burden of the interview months afterward. Instead, it may help you to understand why. As an organization, we are committed to becoming a billion-dollar company and seeing all of our team members achieve financial independence. There is no easy road to achieve that level of success. But, each and every team member here is committed to exactly that goal. As leaders, it is our obligation to our team to make sure that we only hire people that are equally committed to overcoming the challenges and rigors of achieving that goal. Interestingly, we have many candidates who go through the exact same process as you did, and are only bolstered in their resolve to want to work here; for them, the prospect of financial independence and accelerated personal growth is well worth the added stress and pressure. We would encourage you: don't take any of this personally. It was designed to make sure that we didn't waste your time if it was clear that you would be unhappy here. We do believe that is the right thing to have done on your behalf and wish you the best in your career.
