      Recruiter Interview

      15 Jul 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Penn Hills, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Xelerate (Penn Hills, PA)

      Interview

I was ghosted after a 5-step interview process. Not a good look considering that all the managers and even the CEO preached about transparency and the candidate experience throughout the process. The interview process was supposed to be "thorough" but it was really just a series of people asking the same questions over and over.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Xelerate (Nashville, TN) in Jul 2025

      Interview

What a strange experience! I reached out to them originally, since their careers website was down, due to a migration to a new ATS system. Regular conversation, set the expectation that she was running the process, the focus was on speed - and there would be 5 interviews within 3 weeks. Sounds efficient and exemplary of their business, right? First interaction was fine - generic phone call. Company has gotten some new business in an industry and is still getting familiar with terminology. I have experience in the industry, and their lack of vocabulary and knowledge around the matter was a little surprising, but the enthusiasm was there, so I decided to move forward. Second interview - Teams interview. Normal interaction, but same kind of empty answers and referring me to speak to the next members of the staff for clarification. Third Interview - knowledgeable, encouraged me to talk about my data and HRIS experience with the next step - because “they would love it”. (I have to step in and email to remind them of next steps…) Fourth Interview - This is where they lost me. This interview was focused in the area of data/integrity. Despite me explaining in detail the multiple ways to use/analyze metrics and their applications - they could not tell me what metric expectations were. Lots of references to “the data team” that “is always on things” - but, no real answer or numbers, when I had provided many concrete examples of successful data trends. After this, I decided to stay in my consulting role - no real answers, amorphous goals and Indeed/Glassdoor reviews that are hard to overlook. However, a few days after the 4th interview, I realized I never filled out a real application for the role - since the website had been down for over a month at that point. I begrudgingly prompted them again, under the guise of continuing with the 5th interview - which the 4th interview said would be forthcoming directly... Crickets from the phone call, so I followed up again three days later via phone and was sent straight to voicemail - they allow the use of personal cell phones, and there was no identifying information on the voicemail message. I wasn’t even sure this the company - I had to double check the number on their email signature line. At this point, I’m concerned at this point about my data, compliance and the fact that I’ve gone through an interview with a very disorganized process with an evidently disorganized company. The day after my call was sent to voicemail, I got a generic email rejection, after three virtual face to face interviews. Never an application - deep into process, busted ATS transition, interview process dragged longer than outlined - and only because I pushed and followed up. Good luck to the employees and the clients. This was not at all how it was presented, and I wouldn’t recommend this process for another professional.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Xelerate (Erie, PA) in May 2021

      Interview

Very thorough interview process which started with 2 preliminary phone interviews with the recruiter, followed by a video interview with 2 managers, then a video interview with a director of analytics, and lastly a video interview with the CEO. This type of comprehensive process really allows candidates to get to know the company and it's departments quite well.
