I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Xonicwave (Carlsbad, CA) in Jun 2025
Interview
First round of interviews was by phone, conducted by peers at the company. They asked basic computer knowledge questions and guaged compatibility as well as attitude. This was overall a very pleasant experience. The second round was with the owner of the company and it was a disaster from Xonicwave. The owner asked me one question and after a reasonable response decided that I wasn't fit for the position and spent the next 30 minutes giving me advice on other fields to apply to as well as explaining why I wouldn't be a good fit for the position without learning more about me. Dodged a bullet at that company.

Was asked why I was looking to join an MSP, because I was already providing support services to customers through my own DBA. Explained that I like the idea of being part of a dynamic group of technicians. Was assured that this was the place for that.

Interview
Applied through Craigslist, exchanged a few emails, got drilled by separate phone calls by every consultant in the company, who all give their input into the decision, went in for in-person interview and started working the week after. Management hired me from afar and was very understanding during the move.
