      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Yondr (CA) in Feb 2022

      Interview

In short: the single most unorganized hiring process I have ever experienced (assuming hiring was even Yondr's goal in the first place). In March, I was emailed after submitting an application via their website and asked to chat with a member of their team. I did that and it went pretty well. I was then asked to chat with two more members of the team, including the apparent hiring manager roughly one week later. This went well (despite having to ask for a meeting invite, as I was not sent one). The two individuals asked that I work a shift for them. I was provided three dates for April - one near me, and two in NYC. I was asked if I can get there by car, or if I need a train ticket. I took the ticket. Other than general disorganization by the apparent Yondr "leadership" there, it went fine. I worked hard for quite a while, helping with every aspect of the Yondr program at the concerts. There was little to no training, and I was expected to take on a lead role among the contract hires. During this process, I had no idea what exactly my role was. I assumed it was simply for the purpose of feeling out what it is that Yondr does, and I was fine with this and executed as well as I could. Another individual was also there in the same process as me; he was flown out from much farther away. We all attended lunch together alongside some of the full-time Yondr staff while in New York. After the trip, I was told they would be in touch soon. After about a week of no follow up, I checked in and was asked to provide answers to four questions regarding the company and events in general. I provided this back to them. This is in early May. I was told they would touch back with me the following week. Instead, I had to ask them again of any update at the end of May. Keep in mind, the representative was not particularly regretful about the fact that I had been led along this far with no communication from them (except when I asked explicitly for one). I was then told, in late May, that the founder of the company had gone on maternity leave and that hiring decisions would be made once he’s back. On the last day of May, I was told that the founder was back and that they are "a mighty but small team so we take hiring decisions very seriously," but would have hiring decisions out by the end of that week. I heard nothing either way. On JUNE 27, I asked for an update. In AUGUST, the representative apologized and said they were restructuring and growing. I was told that they are "hoping you are interested in a role with us." I was then asked to have yet another conversation/interview. For whatever reason, I agreed. The conversation involved the exact questions I had been asked months earlier, and the interviewer seemed to have zero idea about me or what I was even applying for. He said there would likely be ANOTHER interview with a "higher-up" and then a decision. Two weeks later, the primary representative asked if I wanted to work another show in my city. I declined and never heard back in any capacity regarding the application. I question the extent to which this is a serious company. The illusive founder seemed to have been checked out, the other staff (while generally nice) were disorganized and clueless, and the overall experience felt like foreshadowing of what would have been a nightmarish working experience. I'm glad I dodged the bullet, but should have "quit" sooner.
