First round was with a Talent Acquisition individual and it was quite straightforward with basic questions like 'why YPTC?' followed with an easy accounting skills assessment via screenshare. The next round was with a Manager and that was quite shocking - the individual had low energy and seemed quite unhappy to be there. She focused a lot on why employees find this job overwhelming, why turnover is high, and how clients are always coming with issues and tight deadlines. Also, she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed - from her questioning it was evident that she had not worked in a public company before nor familiar with the structure (e.g., audit commitee composition, board of director meetings, etc.). I may have offended her by politely educating her on board composition, The interview was scheduled for 2 hours and the second hour was reserved for an Excel evaluatoin via Zoom screenshare which was odd - how do you expect one to format nitty gritty details when there's a screenshare lag? It felt like I was working in slow motion. How about just email the file to the candidate rather than giving control over screenshare? Anyhow, on the 30 minute mark she mentioned that time was up. Maybe I misunderstood the time limit but pretty sure she said 1 hr to complete the evaluation. Bottom line - company culture seemed very much like 'dumster fire', 'drinking from a firehose', and 'over-promise and under-deliver'. I would stay clear.
