In all my 7 years of working as an engineer and interviewing at a bunch of companies, this was the most bizarre experience I've had. I applied for a Senior Frontend Engineer position at the London office, the recruiter reached out and I had 3 stages of interview, which I did brilliantly well in. All 3 stages took 2 weeks to complete, got to the final stage and aced it (or so I thought)....I suddenly didn't get any communication for a few extra weeks, then I had to wait for 4 weeks (after my final stage) before been told by the recruiter that the role has been closed and the interview process would be restarted because the team is seeking an entirely different skillset.
All in all, it was a really weird experience, from going through all of the rounds of interview, constantly put on hold and been told the role was closed.
I wonder why companies / teams bother going through the process of interviews before deciding on what is it they want.
