The interview process was streamlined and efficient, consisting of three key stages:
An initial HR screening call to discuss general qualifications and alignment with the role.
A one-on-one interview with the Hiring Manager, which focused on technical skills and experience relevant to the position. A final panel interview where each panelist concentrated on specific focus areas such as problem-solving, team collaboration, and role-specific expertise.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ZymoChem (San Leandro, CA)
Interview
The interview process was over a month long, and included both dry- and wetlab technical portions, some of which appeared irrelevant for the lab position; why would someone be given a bioinformatics coding challenge AND a wet lab quiz on how to aliquot? It made no sense.
Several of my interviewers, including the CSO, were cold and rude. It was as if they were interrogating me. It made me want to get out of that interview as quickly as possible. In any other job market they would not be able to get by like this.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ZymoChem (San Leandro, CA) in Oct 2023
Interview
The interviewers were very nice. They asked me about my previous lab experience and my college courses. They discussed what day to day life would look like and the experiment scedule.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If I was an organized person? How I would handle different levels of organization (messy people) in the lab? Give examples of how I am detail-oriented and have good communication skills.
