I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at bp (Houston, TX) in Sept 2012
Interview
I was emailed that I needed to schedule an interview. I was then invited to a dinner to mingle with other prospect interns and current employees. We were told about the company and what an internship looks like. I thought it was a very good event to hold before the interviews. The interviews took place the following two days after the dinner and consisted of a 45 minute behavioral portion and 45 minute technical portion. The timeline was 3 weeks to hear a decision while some heard earlier that they did not get it. I was told a day before the 3 weeks was up that I did not get an offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Outside of engineering classes and/or coursework. When have you used your engineering prowess to solve a problem or overcome an obstacle?
First it was a 5 question hireview then there was a 2 hour case going over mental math, market knowledge and hypothetical scenarios. Overall it was really easy and simple.
first round is a hireview and the second round is a technical interview. the hireview has 5 standard behavioral questions, while the technical a way for them to see how you think.
fine, just take your time. the virtual interview was pretty straightforward and had a timer for every question along with some extra time to prepare. It was mainly behavioural questions and asking theoretical situations and experiences from past jobs.
