      Senior Business Systems Analyst Interview

      1 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Basel
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at dsm-firmenich (Basel) in Nov 2018

      Interview

Well, where should I start? First of all, their process takes months, and even though vocally they apologize, it looks like they do not see any problem with this. The HR that you are interacting sends you copy/paste emails where probably she does not read before hitting the send button, which makes it obvious and make you feel "they do not take you seriously". They did first a one way screen interview [somebody needs to tell companies that these one way screen interviews are pointless] probably 1 week after my application. I should have dropped the process there, my bad. Anyway, I did it and after 3 weeks or sth, I have received a phone interview invitation from HR. It was an interesting conversation because HR challenged me how I would have a good start with them if I studied a masters Degree program at the same time. I was like, "why I couldnt". Second red flag - my bad, I continued the process. After another 3 weeks or sth, I was invited to a F2F interview, where I met the hiring manager, HR again, and the team. Then, I was ghosted again. After 2 months I finally received another copy/paste email from the HR lady, again with typo errors, saying to me that "after carefully consideration and assessment, they decided not to proceed with my application" .. Good Things: Hiring Manager. He welcomed me nice, and I enjoyed our conversation very much. He explained to me what he was expecting from me, which surprised me though because the job description was not mentioning any of what he was talking about. We even checked the job description together [because I took it with me] after my reaction, and he was also surprised :) Team members prefered to talk what I did in the past rather than why that team needed the position they were interviewing for and what problems this person would solve, and how that person could contribute to the team. All my previous employments, my family situation currently, etc. but why they were recruiting. Team members were also friendly though, however, I guess they were the ones who really rejected me. Our conversation made me feel my interests did not interest them, and I was too young for the team.
