They sent me a take-home and ignored me. This is not cool, as I spent a lot of time solving it. It would have been nice to acknowledge and give me some feedback
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at heycater! (Dubai) in Nov 2023
Interview
Upon receiving an interview invitation, I was taken aback when the earliest available slot was over a month away!. This prolonged wait set an uneasy tone from the start. On the scheduled day, my discomfort only deepened as the interviewer, who joined the session tardily, appeared rushed and distracted.
The interview took an unexpected turn when she mentioned her intention to filter candidates with a few questions. The pivotal inquiry revolved around my experience with Next.js, to which I confidently responded with over three years in Next.js, over five years in React, and more than a decade in frontend development overall. I even expressed my enthusiasm for Next.js, highlighting my ongoing use of the latest version in a current full-stack project.
To my bewilderment, the interviewer promptly declared that my application could not proceed as they were seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of experience. It struck me as paradoxical, considering Next.js itself has been in existence for around seven years. Moreover, I couldn't help but question why such a fundamental query couldn't have been addressed in the initial job application, sparing me the anticipation of a month-long wait for a brief conversation.
For those who receive an invitation from this company, I strongly recommend saving your time and exploring better opportunities elsewhere.
