The first interview with HR went fine. The technical round with the department head and another interviewer went really poorly. They didn’t seem to know how to run an interview. After a short introduction with no effort to ease into the conversation or explain the company’s work, they jumped straight into odd, overly difficult questions. They asked me to explain a project from my current job, which isn’t a reasonable way to judge a candidate. You can’t share internal work from a current or previous employer, and in Germany it’s not allowed. I gave a high-level explanation without exposing anything sensitive, but they weren’t satisfied and kept pushing for more. They even asked how we do certain things at my current company. On top of that, I noticed they were recording the conversation using Google Gemini AI. It is also against the EU law. They ended the call without asking if I had any questions. The whole thing felt unprofessional.
