      Sales Associate Interview

      2 Aug 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Cardiff, Wales
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at the LEGO Group (Cardiff, Wales) in Sept 2017

      Interview

I was greeted at the door by a member of staff, and directed to the assistant manager who welcomed me and said he would go to the stock room to make sure they were ready to speak to me. In the meantime, I was encouraged to look at the shelves and pick one set that particularly stood out to me to bring it into the interview with me. I was given about 5 minutes to do so, which was a good amount of time for nerves to subside and to get familiar with the store. Upon being brought into the staff room, the manager and assistant manager were both very friendly and laid-back which made the interview feel a lot less pressured or forced. I was congratulated on the contents of my CV; asked why I'd chosen that particular set; asked where I saw myself in a few years time, and then walked through the kind of hours I'd work and what pay I would receive. The interview took place in the stock room, and didn't feel intimidatingly formal. When it was over, I thanked them for meeting me and they shook my hand and reassured me that it all went well. They were both very friendly in the interview and weren't afraid to laugh and joke, which definitely feels in-keeping with the brand's image and helped to get rid of any tension. I was also asked to bring proof of identity and permit to work along with me, which constituted my passport and my National Insurance number. A day later, I received a phone call to offer me the position (a seasonal temp) and to arrange a time for me to come in to collect my uniform and give them my availability.
