JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred, but may be substituted with significant experience in program development and/or working directly with seniors and/or youth and families. Must have experience working with persons in crisis and those living in poverty.
In this dynamic role, you'll be splitting time between working with youth and families and seniors while at two Harrisonville income-based communities. The suitable candidate will possess the following skills:
- Ability to work autonomously and must be a self-starter.
- Efficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ability to learn various on-line internal reporting systems.
- Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities at one time and have excellent time management skills.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Engage and maintain current and new community partnerships and collaborations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the on-site Service Coordinator is to plan, implement, and provide various programs and services that assist seniors in aging in place independently and that assist families in preventing unplanned transitions and homelessness. Specific responsibilities include:
- Identify supportive services and other resources for older adult and disabled residents including medical, financial, mental services as well as assistance programs.
- Providing for the development, management and direct supervision of youth (5-13 years old) in the afterschool and summer program. These programs focus on academic achievement and literacy, character development, and enrichment opportunities for elementary age youth.
- Providing strengths-based case management, often in times of crisis (i.e. emergency assistance, domestic violence and safety planning, home management, employment and educational support, etc.)
- Developing and implementing programs and activities on-site for families and adults, with the support of partnering organizations and volunteers, to assist individuals in obtaining their goals. Focus areas include employment, health/wellness, life skills, and parenting, etc.
- Managing and maintaining on-site community spaces, including a community center, and food pantry.
- Maintain communication with management regarding resident daily living needs to enable residents continued independent living.
- Provide assistance, as needed, to residents in preparing documents (i.e. Vial of Life, Emergency Information Sheet, Medicare, and Medicaid applications).
- Administrative duties, such as outcomes reporting, budget management, development and creation of monthly community notifications (i.e. newsletters, flyers, announcements), and larger agency functions such as volunteer recruitment, program development, and fundraising, etc.
- The ability to wear multiple hats and complete various job functions, as requested, in a fast-paced work environment
