Aladdin Knowledge Systems didn't want your data bottled up, but it did think it should be protected. The company's digital rights management (DRM) product line, HASP, helped software developers manage copy protection, licensing, and intellectual property protection. Its eSafe suite guarded enterprise networks against computer viruses, spyware, and spam. Aladdin also offersed a USB-based authentication and password management product line called eToken. The company marketed its products directly to software developers and through resellers and distributors. Aladdin was acquired by private equity firm Vector Capital in 2009, and later integrated into another of its portfolio companies, SafeNet.
