I worked at One Reverse Mortgage full-time

    Pros

Free lunch twice a month and free snacks all the time!

    Cons

    A) 98% Outbound cold calling - Management says its a warm call: HA!
    B) Lowest paid commissions in the industry - Look around at all other reverse mortgage companies and you will agree!
    C) Micromanaged like no other job you have ever worked at! Usually two to three meetings a day - rehashing and going over every single report you can think of!
    D) Work minimum of two Saturdays a month and no inbound calls just out bounding cold calls to seniors who have already been called 12 to 18 times and have no interest
    E) No room for promotion - and even if you do get promoted to a director, most directors step down to become a mortgage banker again because the pay is even worse!
    F) No work life balance - you work 10 to 12 hours a day six days a week and make $60K to $75K a year!

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with reality - This type of work environment and pay structure might work in Detroit where jobs are scarce, but in San Diego, the clock is ticking and it is just a matter of time before you have another turn over of all the San Diego sales staff!
Also Gregg Smith is great - But Quicken Loans took away all his power in 2018 and he is just a figure now with no power! All the calls are made by Quicken Loans management hence the long work hours with minimal pay!

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at One Reverse Mortgage (Detroit, MI (US)) in May 2013.

    Interview

My sister worked there, so I was referred by her. I didn't go through a formal interview process, just a phone call to get basic information about me and my prior experience. Not intimidating at all because I knew I would find something.

    Interview Questions

    • Just some basic personal information questions that one of the recruiters asked me over the phone. The conversation was straight forward and easy.   Answer Question
