This company encourages coffee junkies to come ashore. Port City Java operates and franchises about 40 coffee shops in the Carolinas and a half dozen other states. The stores offer several varieties of fresh-roasted coffee, along with cappuccino, espresso, iced drinks, and teas. The chain's menu also features panini sandwiches, wrap-style sandwiches, salads, and smoothies, as well as fresh baked deserts. In addition to its domestic locations, Port City Java has outlets in Costa Rica and Jordan. About a dozen of the coffee shops are company owned. Port City Java was started in 1995.
