Reed College offers bachelor's degrees in more than 20 fields and a master of arts degree in liberal studies. Its special master's degree allows students to study both liberal arts and the sciences. The school enrolls more than 1,400 students (called "Reedies") annually. It has an average of 15 students in its conference-style classes and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1. It has produced more than 30 Rhodes Scholars. The college also has a nuclear reactor that is operated primarily by undergraduates. Reed College was founded in 1908 and is named for Oregon pioneers Simeon and Amanda Reed.
