    Pros

    Good benefits, Stable Hours, Try to make you feel listened to, Decent Comission, Family-like dynamic

    Cons

    Managers won't give you a straight answer when it comes to what we can expect of the future, set unrealistic targets for agents, limited possibility to grow and earn more, an industry in decline and a company struggling to innovate

    Advice to Management

    Be straight up with your staff. Don't try to sugar coat things excessively in "Shaw Values", because that will be met with cynicism, which is the opposite of what you want in employees.

    I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Shaw Direct (Montreal, QC (Canada)) in January 2009.

    Interview

    Internal posting only. Positive work culture. Service-oriented. They are not looking for an all-star, but instead a team player and positive attitude. Skills come second. A lot of situational questions, asking for practical examples of problem resolution.

    "Give an example of a time you had a conflict with a colleague, and how you resolved it."
    "What (type of) manager do you prefer working for, and why?"

    Negotiation

    Little room for negotiation beyond the established salary grades/bands. Still possible to negotiate but do not get hopes up too high. Benefits are excellent and are used to justify lack of negotiation room.
