I have been working at Waymo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Food, Waymo Equity, Bright People,

    Cons

    No collaboration between teams
    No focus on career growth
Unwritten rule: No long vacations allowed even if you have accumulated enough
No proper resource allocation:Engineers are made to do technicians work
Its suppose to be under Alphabet , but culture seems to be inherited from traditional car manufacturing companies

    Advice to Management

You have been given an influential platform (read alphabet )to invent the technology that would influence billions of people. Use it well, while taking along the people who make that happen.Get to know about their career growth (dis)satisfaction.. Managers care about meeting timelines. ICs are expected to work weekends, day and night to meet those timelines.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Waymo.

    Interview

HR phone screen. Recruiter was friendly and courteous, but we spent most of time with me being confused by the repeated and generic question of "how much do you know about Waymo" rephrased in different ways. The recruiter didn't introduce the company much from their side, nor was I clear what the interview looked for. The interview ended with both of us confused with the communication.
