Lack of Leadership

Pros

There are several people who work there who are hard workers and are very helpful. Most people are quite friendly. If you are taking on a more intense position, you can make a decent salary, eventually. There is a possibility for advancement if you can carve out a niche for yourself. If you are hourly employee and actually stick to your work hours, you can have a decent work-life balance.

Cons

There is no leadership, no structure, no training, no chain of command. If you work in the office, be prepared to learn most everything on your own. There is a lot of talk about issues and how to resolve them, but zero action that actually addresses these issues. Working in the Office at 3D Solar, you will quickly find that it is the attitude of all other branches of (and of most people in) the company that you are responsible for nearly every aspect of a job, even when you clearly should not be. Instead of going to the party responsible for a particular issue, you will often have people come to you and expect you to take care of it. Because of this, performing your actual job duties can be very challenging. You will hear a lot of talk about "teamwork," but unfortunately, most other 3D Solar employees think teamwork is having others do their work for them. Employees who engage in actual teamwork are taken advantage of and made into scapegoats when they speak up about being taken advantage of. No one in the office has an actual job description, which makes it difficult to put a value on what you do and easy for others to tell you something falls under your list of responsibilities. Take what you hear from "upper management" with a grain of salt - at times, you will be flat-out lied to. Watch out for people trying to manipulate you or play multiple sides. Though great customer service is preached, you will seldom see upper management making a real effort to help customers in need. As someone in the office, this will fall on you, and you will ask upper management many times for an answer to a question or for a solution to a problem, and you will likely see no action until the customer threatens a lawsuit or to go to the press, which, unfortunately, is a routine occurrence. The entire company is understaffed, and the Office is likely the most understaffed of all. There are no benefits of any kind. No paid time off until you've been there a year. No paid holidays until you've been there 90 days. You will most likely be offered a lower wage than is appropriate for the amount of responsibility you will be taking on, and you will most likely have to fight for further pay increases, even if your amount of responsibility at work increases. This company may or may not be around for many years to come; it's hard to say. During my time there, I saw many situations where we narrowly seemed to avoid disaster. There is a lot of potential there, but I don't think it will ever be realized if they don't get some structure in place.
