A decent experience

Pros

Working days (mon-fri) were great for family time, management did make an effort to listen to PTO and vacation requests and accommodate everyone as best they could, knew what to expect daily.

Cons

Talent was constantly leaving and coming, expectations from upper management were at times delusional, there was very little room to take on creative projects while editing the daily newscasts or left alone to edit them all, communication was severely lacking.

Pros

Only good thing is some of the co-workers. You tend to bond with your fellow hostages.

Cons

Aaron Ramey is a horrible boss. Company only cares about themselves and getting their name out. Don't care about the community at all they serve. No journalistic integrity. Willing to lying and mislead the public to be first or get views. Leadership tends to only promote their drinking buddies that also have no problem lying to the public for views and clicks. This station will never do well as long as the current leadership is in charge. Very low pay. They tend to higher people fresh out of school "that look good in front of the camera", pay dirt cheap and over work them for the length of their contracts. If you want to actually like your job, DONT APPLY AT ABC57.

Toxic, unprofessional, low morale

Pros

Lack of staffing gives active employees experience... in positions they never wanted... on top of their actual jobs.

Cons

Toxic, unprofessional, employees are verbally abusive and unwilling to learn and/or think they already know everything. 99% of the staff is lazy/entitled/whiny and extremely close-minded. Lack of accountability all around. Opportunities for growth limited; so desperate to hire they will accept anyone off the street regardless of experience and work ethic (which is nonexistent). Management is also toxic and unwilling to provide constructive criticism and feedback that can actually set staff (especially reporters and production crew) up for success. Instead, they choose to be cryptic instead of being straightforward and ACTUALLY TEACHING VALUABLE LESSONS that allow team members to grow. Don't work here unless you want to sign your life away for ~3 years and shave decades off your life. Morale is so low, literally everyone who works there is depressed and desperate for a way out.
