Awful place - avoid at all costs

Pros

You get perks if you are in with the right people, but it will come at a cost Leaving - you'll only realise how bad this place is when you go Increase in poor mental health You may get pizza lunch occasionally

Cons

Racist and sexism, favouritism Do not work in the Financial Protection team, if you don't get harrassed sexually by a former director (luckily now 'retired') you'll be treated badly by his replacements who are two faced and nasty. Customer support equally poor, some directors will avoid you at any cost. Hr turn a blind eye on any issues and the ceo doesn't want to know. You are more likely to be paid off / put on garden leave / retired / quietly shoved out than promoted or progressed in this company and that is at any level - no one is safe Discriminating against pregnant ladies and returning mothers, and no chance of career progression No pay rises or bonuses bar the absolute minimum that they can give, but the leadership team and ceo will still pocket thousands in annual bonus Will push more work on you with no reward, inflexible working hours Gossiping non supportive place

Pros

If you can get over lack of progression and leadership approach and are happy to do an alright job to get by it’s fine Some nice people They appear to be trying to be better with HR and treating people but there’s no point if senior leaders can’t get with it

Cons

No point going out of your way or going above or beyond, it won’t be recognised Stepped on by people with louder mouths Lack of leadership skills Everyone in senior leadership team could do with going on a course People with lower salary roles get forgotten about and are expected to do a lot It’s not open and honest Political nightmare

Dull, boring and a little nasty

Pros

The work doesn't mean anything so you're almost encouraged to coast Salaries can be quite high if you get in with SLT There are some lovely people who work here of course

Cons

Extremely dull work, propping up an industry which is destroying the earth A culture of gossip and backstabbing Weird and often creepy senior leadership People get pushed out, fired or firmly asked to leave all the time. Happened on numerous occasions while I worked there. Shockingly this happened a few times to pregnant women. If you're serious about your career there is absolutely zero chance for career progression here unless you impress SLT with a narrow range of personality quirks such as passive aggression, ambitious social climbing, and a refusal to get pregnant.
