Pros

Leaders in their field. Learned from some of the best and brightest. Had access to some great resources. Editorial team is top-notch, award winning, and lovely to work with. Several world-class programs like their accreditation program. Had some remarkable successes and friendships to take with me when I left.

Cons

I dealt with harassment on the job from multiple people and both my manager and human resources looked the other way. Not all departments were like this, but it was overall not a good experience and I suffered from PTSD for no less than a year.

A better-than-average association

Pros

AIHA is a better-than-average membership association, with all the usual departments (meetings, education, publications, etc.), that also has non-standard association programs that bring in (diversified) revenue. Stable, with a clear vision for the future.

Cons

Not much room for advancement. Employee experience is heavily dependent on the manager. Professional development is almost entirely left up to self motivation. Cliques.

Pros

Used to be the ideal workplace.

Cons

The company has turned toxic. There were senior leadership changes that resulted in a toxic work environment. Operations think they have their employees best interest but dont. They do not listen when you come to them and are out of touch with staff. The pay is too low to put up with the politics at this place. They fire anyone who has a mind of their own and outshines leadership. They expect people to speak up but everyone who spoke up is no longer at the company (go figure). Management is hypocritical and promote their close buddies for positions they arent qualified for. There have been numerous reports of a “certain” senior leadership person being disrespectful to multiple staff members and they sweep it under the rug. I can no longer trust management.
