Pros

Good pay and a handful of staff are nice

Cons

The staff can be very unwelcoming and hierarchical behaviour is encouraged by directors. There seems to be animosity between the office in London and the regional offices. The Human Resources function is non-existent, I was quite alarmed to know that it is common knowledge, within the organisation, that some staff do not do any work! I was horrified to learn that some staff had been bullied by several senior staff and I could not understand why this is allowed when one of the things Article 19 does is to fight impunity.... Career opportunities do exist but not for everyone. I found out that quite a few people have been promoted into senior positions but they lack basic management skills and management training does not appear to be a priority There is no diversity outside of the finance team.

Pros

Salary, leave, interesting subject matter

Cons

Dysfunction, bullying and mismanagement from the executive level down. Don't be fooled by the fake reviews from HR -- this is an org in free fall lurching from one crisis to the next. Some colleagues turn a blind eye and manoeuvre their way to the top; others endure and eventually leave to escape the mental and emotional toll of this toxic workplace. Ironic that it's a human rights org. Avoid

Pros

Fantastic work being driven by country offices especially Brazil.

Cons

Self promoting HR makes up policies that are inconsistent or unfair for all staff. Very rude senior managers. Overpaid and unskilled staff promoted in head/directors positions are rather arrogant.
