      Pros

      Time off. That is literally all there is to like.

      Cons

      The pay is awful. By awful I mean get ready to be at the poverty line. Do yourself a favor ... go work for your local county or consultants. REPEAT ... IT IS AWFUL. Also once you come here you cannot go work in the private world that does business with the state (Consultants) for 2 YEARS. Yep ... they trap you because all road work basically relies on state funds. You get blocked.

      A constant struggle for justifying hard work and effort when so many are just clocking in and going home....after the lawsuit in the 90's their are certain employees who feel entitled to their job who are absolutely worthless.

      Pros

      There are some good people and expereince that can be learned from on a day to day basis.

      Cons

      You get paid on a scale like everyone else...think socialism, not a reward system for hardwork. So joe blow can do one thing and get paid the same as John Doe who does nine other things.

      Pros

      Stable with a good salary, benefits and retirement package. Training opportunities exist. Most work accomodations are good and this includes equipment provided.

      Cons

      Management is NOT pro employee. Promotions are 99% pre-determined based upon who you know. Policies are outdated and burdensome. For example, work is 8-5 with ALL employees taking lunch at noon. Internet privileges are for select employees with written justification only. Security guards ride and patrol and create an atmosphere that we are not to be trusted. Little to no praise is given for work well done. Mediocre workers are not challenged to do better.
