Pros

The students were wonderful--diverse, creative, challenging.

Cons

Very poor pay--most professors were on government assistance, tenured salaries were often under 55,000, pay is not indexed to inflation, only an extra $2000 bump-up on getting tenure. Extremely poor communication between administration and faculty/staff. Staff wages around $10 an hour. Intense workplace bullying and hostile environments leading to high faculty turnover and burnout. Small power/money circles controlling policy and funding. Most faculty unhappy. Racism on campus from faculty and administration.

Other colleagues are kind and devoted to their jobs, students are from a range of backgrounds

Cons

Low pay across the board, pay can only increase by $3000 for faculty from entry to full professor and this is not disclosed in hiring, little to no funding for research, many faculty and staff are on public assistance and/or have extra jobs, the administration is paid well but there is very little financial incentive for anyone else to stay. Students report lack of support, consistent bad and undercooked food, not being listened to when they complain.

Cons

Upper level administration values enrollment over a fare wage for their employees. The location is not ideal for younger folk, or anyone without access to a vehicle.
