Pros

The AG team is made up of incredibly talented individuals and extremely hard workers. It is inspiring to be around colleagues that are always pushed to perform at an elite level and always seem to over come the hurdles of working at a small company. The team routinely performs and exceeds the expectations of nearly impossible standards. The coworkers are by far and away the best thing AG has going for them. They are helpful and supportive and the camaraderie of being on an amazing team and not wanting to let your team members down will keep you going.

Cons

AG has many cons, but nearly all of the problems come down from the company's "Leadership". The franchise is family owned and operated, which leads to some uncomfortable situations and an extreme lack of accountability. The leadership and managing styles at this company can only be described as a circus ring that has caught on fire. The work environment is incredibly toxic which leads to employee burnout. Employees often work right through their lunch due to the insane amount of workload. Crying at your desk is considered a right of passage for new employees and even senior team members are not immune to breakdowns. Due to layoffs and an unwillingness to hire, it is expected that the sales employees spend hours of their week on the production floor where they will assemble, print, and quality control the projects that they manage. Naturally, a sales person who is not a trained digital operator or bindery specialist is bound to make mistakes and then is critiqued by management for making errors. The team is also forced to do free projects for leadership's friends and family. The projects are highly scrutinized and it adds to the pressure and mountain of work that is already on each employees plate. There are also issues of privacy and security. Without letting their employees know, management had security cameras installed throughout the building. This was never addressed with the team and no explanations as to why this was now deemed necessary was offered by management. This destroyed team morale and made the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable. There were also instances where management would reference personal conversations that employees would have with their colleagues over email. They were actively reading private messages and monitoring the cameras. These constant paranoid behaviors indicated that they did not trust their employees to do their jobs without being monitored. The turnover rate at AG in the last year has been ridiculously high for such a small company. There were roughly 30 employees beginning in 2020 and that team is now down to less than 20. The remaining workers are left to cover several unfilled positions and they are stretched uncomfortably thin. Benefits and pay are lackluster and way below industry standard. Promises about compensation, flexibility, and bonuses are not fulfilled by management. Raises are often dangled over employees heads and then redacted. PTO is nearly impossible to get approved and when it is finally approved, the expectation will be that you are available on call. Management will often call, text, and email employees who are off, as they do not respect employees boundaries or personal time. Overall, leadership is a disaster, the workload is unrealistic, morale is nonexistent, and the employees are exhausted. Don't do it.

Pros

I can't really think of anything other than the other lower-level employees who were friendly.

Cons

I recently had the misfortune of being an employee at Alpha Graphics in Ft. Lauderdale, and I cannot express enough how terrible my experience was. From the moment I walked through the doors, it became apparent that this was not a company that cared about its employees' well-being or professional growth. First and foremost, the management at Alpha Graphics Ft. Lauderdale is abysmal. The lack of effective leadership and clear communication created an environment of confusion and frustration. It seemed like management had no idea what they were doing and frequently made poor decisions without considering the impact on employees. They constantly changed priorities and expectations without providing proper guidance or support. The workload at Alpha Graphics was overwhelming and unreasonable. They consistently piled on tasks without considering the limited resources available. As an employee, I felt overworked and constantly stressed, trying to meet unrealistic deadlines. There was no work-life balance, and personal time was disregarded. Additionally, the compensation and benefits package provided by Alpha Graphics were far from satisfactory. The pay was well below industry standards, and there were no opportunities for growth or advancement. It felt like a dead-end job with no prospects for the future. Other Major things that happened was I set up an appointment with our local professional sports team, the manager in charge shows up late, missed the meeting so they stopped taking my calls because of him. Another time they made me drive 400 miles to bring signage to a show on my time off. They also made me come in on Saturday and Sunday with no extra pay. In conclusion, my time at Alpha Graphics in Ft. Lauderdale was a complete nightmare. The management was incompetent, the work environment was toxic, the workload was overwhelming, the technology was outdated, and the compensation was subpar. I would strongly advise anyone considering employment with this company to think twice before accepting a position. There are far better opportunities available elsewhere where you will be treated with respect and given a chance to thrive professionally.

Pros

- Direct Manager (son of owner) has great leadership and communicative abilities - Folks are generally friendly - They finally added retirement (non-matching) benefits in 2024. - The Pre-Media department is rad, and they work magic. - Front off gals are great. They made the whole experience more welcoming.

Cons

- Owner throws people out like crazy. Local baristas and service workers informed me on rumors early-on, which ended up being true. Lots of firing-on-a-dime, they do little to hide this fact. - Inconsistent views on remote work. 75% of HR works remote, Owner works Remote, Owner's Son works Remote. The Employee handbook explicitly states you will not and cannot work from home. Your training? Done by someone remote in North Carolina. Curious. - Zero parking. They make you pay for your own parking, or you fend for yourself. - No structure for advancement - The good leadership is overshadowed by their workload and inability to provide support.

Sinking Ship

Pros

Most of the people there are fantastic. Donuts or bagels on the last day of the month. Hours can be flexible depending on the department. A good place to learn about the printing industry. Small company

Cons

Location can be difficult to get to. No free parking. Company is a sinking ship. Owner is very old fashioned and a major micro manager looking over everyone shoulder. He doesn't trust anyone, including his senior leadership team. Sales are way down and people are either leaving on their own or being let go. And yet, the owner is keeping outside salespeople who bring in no sales.

Pros

None come to mind. Wouldn’t recommend

Cons

Micromanagement, leadership not trusting the people they hired because they make them do jobs they didn’t hire them to do. Receipt in salary potential and upward mobility. Forced to do 3 separate jobs (including bindery???) and not compensated anywhere near what’s asked. If you like to be gas lighted by your manager on a daily basis, this is the place for you
