Pros

Good initial training in 1st week in their corp. headquarters, terrible free breakfast, lousy lunch, and dinner is on yourself. They put you up in a lousy hotel.

Cons

Local training is terrible, you pay first for office usage. iPad rentals, fess, fees and more fees. It costs about $250 per month and you are lucky to make $70 per closed transaction. That is if its not stolen first by the people who train you. Branch manager is a liar and expects you to work about 60 hours per week, evenings, weekends, and you get paid nothing. Saturday morning meetings? If you don't come to them you get punished and your local training is reduced. Not only are you competing against other agents in the industry, but you compete against your own fellow agents in the office for the same leads. Leads are 2-3 years old and you'll receive a list of 300 leads, all but 5 are wrong phone numbers and wrong addresses. Expect to go through several tanks of gas without reimbursement. Some clients were called and visited by the different agents in the same office on many occasions and made the same clients upset and file harassment complaints. Their business model is severely flawed and antiquated. Imagine selling encyclopedias door to door. Expect to be backstabbed and lied to. Don't waste your time and money here. The company is nothing more than a hedge fund waiting to be bought out.

Pros

Better than unemployment. But not much. I can not even get to the 20 word minimum for "Pro" comments !

Cons

No Leadership, no career path, no training budget = you don't get trained after you are on-boarded, ever! CEO and President are really nice people - yet they are insurance salesmen with no clue how to lead or treat people. You can not believe it until you work here how many dinosaurs still roam the earth - incapable of sharing information. It is all about sit down shut up and follow the checklist, we dont care what you think, we dont want suggestions and how dare you come to my office to discuss something without me inviting you.

Pros

They do give good training. If you can become a GM you can make good money

Cons

Now there are mostly just failed agent writing bad reviews on this page but I was a successful agent with them and led the office many months in a row. When I first started I was promised the world of course, told all the great things about Amerilife but none of that important things that make this place so horrible to work for. First off the 50 page contract that the State of Florida Department of Labor needs to see. I wish I would have read it better, if you see in any contract that you waive the right to participate in any Class action lawsuit, they ARE doing something to deceive you! The commissions absolutely terrible. They do nothing to pay you. They bet on you leaving so they don't have to pay you. You are charged ever month for leads, rent, iPad, and Tech. Over $200 in charges for crappy leads ,a desk, an old iPad I never used, and still have not figured out what the tech fee is for. OH YEA, THEY DO NOT WANT TO PAY YOU!!!
