Pros

Try and make it fun

Cons

Tampa Bay’s top places to work in insurance? Based on what? The fantastic “culture”? It’s a shame there isn’t any substance to back this accolade up. It is no coincidence that turnover is at an all time high and HR /leadership seem to either not care or think it’s not their fault. Turnover is simply explained away with statements such as “oh not a good culture fit” or “this is normal in companies”. Promotions are achieved if you put in a two weeks notice, hard work is never recognized, and the only way to move up is if you are part of the management inner circle that involves gossip and negative rumor spreading. In terms of strategic growth, this company has the inability to grasp the tools needed for long-term prosperity. As long as production is hitting goals, other considerations such as quality of the book and retention of earned business are thrown out the door. This company lacks vision, the ability to inspire its employees, and does a great job at selling it all in an attractive package. The HR department should consider a career change to Sales.

Pros

Ample training provided. You can grow with this company to a point. In house 20-44 licensing for some employees. PTO is okay and benefits are provided for all employees from day 1. 401K program with matching and charitable contributions are matched. Great "first dive" into insurance for those with little to no experience.

Cons

Unless you are a male you can't move into an upper management. Missagony abounds in some departments and is not addressed and ignored when brought to HR's attention. Some managers are fond of telling you that don't wear enough makeup to be promoted. I was actually told this in a one on one and was told that I should aspire to wear makeup daily and do my hair more in order to move up in the company. HR tends to ignore big issues when brought to their attention and this has resulted in some of the good HR people leaving. People who care about AIIC and support the goals of growth and the vision of the future are an asset and should be able to speak freely and shouldn't be afraid to voice their opinions and give suggestions. Unfortunately that isn't the case anymore and many are afraid to speak up as they have seen others who have and they have been let go because they "aren't a cultural fit".

We recognize the value of constructive feedback and are disheartened to read your review. The misogynistic culture you described does not align with our core values and is not tolerated within our organization. We have several women at the Executive, Director and Manager levels within our organization, many of whom have been hired or promoted into those roles based on their work product, contributions and accomplishments. To say otherwise devalues the hard work and dedication shown by both males and females in leadership positions. Even so, 60% of our promoted employees in 2018 were female. We strive every day to make American Integrity a better place than it was the day before and that comes from each and every one of our employees who bring new ideas and feedback on a daily basis. Our leadership team, starting with our CEO, takes their duty as leaders and mentors very seriously and actively promotes an open door environment. It is unfortunate that you feel you did not have that experience, but we wish you well in your current endeavors.
