Pros

There were definitely a few perks to the job, including retreats to the owners' houseboat and country club. PTO policies were fair, and the healthcare benefits were more than acceptable for a small company. Some of the smaller things, like ready availability of office supplies and refreshments for employees, can be appreciated.

Cons

Training and mentorship are practically nonexistent in the R&D side of the house. When the most junior developers know more about the frameworks and technologies than the head of the department, it is a bad sign. I witnessed several occasions where multiple devs were openly ridiculed for presenting alternative ideas or showing initiative in a task. That sort of hostility does nothing more than build mistrust and stunt company growth. When concerns were presented to upper management, the response fell along the lines of "if you don't like it, don't work here." Appalling. As a few reviewers before me have stated, I never met an employee who genuinely expressed the glowing reviews given here. It was well-known within the company that some of the higher-level management routinely posts fake reviews on this site, just to try to bury the opinions of their disgruntled former staff.

Pros

Free cokes for their employees

Cons

The husband / wife management team are completely dysfunctional. They argue and bicker at each other constantly, they demand that employees sacrifice their personal lives for the company. Those that do not attend company picnic or other company functions are usually let go within short order. They weep to their employees about how generous they are and how altruistic they are to have started a company and to be supporting everyone's lifestyle and families all because they are such good hearted people. All of this creates a bizarre work environment that is not healthy. Their product lacks substance, but is sold to utilities that are able to convince state commissions that they are buying the web based product because it will help their customers save on energy. Really?

Pros

Truly has some innovative ideas and a massive knowledge base in the electric utility industry.

Cons

The work environment can be hostile. Leaders have been known to send out inappropriate all-staff emails that were religious in nature and political without regard to the opinions or beliefs of the recipients. Yelling and cursing in meetings goes unchecked. Owners - a couple - verbally fight in front of clients. Many new hires are improperly screened and brought on merely because the top leadership "likes" them only to find - months later - they are dead weight and should never have been brought on board in the first place. This churn creates a massive drag on the real talent in the organization and sends a bad message to employees and clients alike. Very large turnover rate should send a message to any potential new candidates. Last, as the other "good" review points out, this company embraces nepotism and that isn't necessarily a good thing.
