Pros

Professional growth: This is a place to become a programming artisan. If there's a technology that interests you, there are many experts willing to teach. Alternatively, there's opportunity to learn. Talent: There's a high bar for talent. You will be helped and challenged by all the people you work with. There's an interesting group of people here with many talents! Autonomy: You're expected to make work-task priority decisions that are in the best financial interest of the company. You have a lot of freedom to make choices as to what you want to work on. Respect: There's a lot of mutual respect at Apportable. You're treated like a responsible adult and are expected to act like one. There isn't really a reporting structure here. Value: You're a valuable part of the company--you begin to have an impact from day one. There's a lot of pressure to succeed and perform. Culture: We are definitely a group of gamers that regularly plays together--Starcraft 2 (the company sport), Dota 2, MTG, Hearthstone, and more. Connections: If you're into indie gaming, you'll get to meet some incredibly interesting people! Perks: Catered lunch, zero-cost healthcare for full time employees, company events, drinks, snacks, albert the apportable dog, company-subsidized exercise, etc.

Cons

The area is right on the edge of a not-so-great part of San Francisco. But, the office is moving soon, so hopefully this will be rectified.

Pros

Incredible team. Free lunch and dinner. Unlimited drinks. Company StarCraft league. So many fringe benefits I feel spoiled. Company makes an engineering product for other engineers.

Cons

Flat hierarchy like Value has a few inefficiencies. Standard company growth pains when you grow really quickly. Brand new office smells like paint.

Pros

No b.s. - some of the smartest people I've been around, solving hard problems and genuinely enjoying the process. A successful product that clients are actually buying and appreciating, with lots of upside potential. Intellectual freedom. Beautiful, "loft-style" office which is not much to look at from the outside but expands inside to a beautiful, comfortable space with a nap room, kitchen, and sofas. Flexible hours, food and drinks.

Cons

Engineering focused organization - could use a softer touch, ie more team building, more employee appreciation. As another reviewer mentioned, it's sink or swim - have your you-know-what together because the bar is high and nobody is going to tell you what to do (of course for the right sort of person, this is also a huge "pro").
