Pros

Constantly changing projects with short timelines makes for perfect startup atmosphere potential. A few connections to local startups. Recognized brand in the app marketplace space.

Cons

Dishonest business practices. High expectations of employee hours (including nights, weekends, holidays), without proper compensation. Extremely low respect for employees, with high expectations for output - seems like they are looking for people they can use up, not work with and respect. immature, inexperienced management. Underlying culture of mistrust of workforce, with management always quick to second guess. Compensation increase was over-promised on overly optimistic company goals that weren't being hit (and still haven't been). "Full coverage" of health insurance promised during interview and hiring process ended up only being 50% coverage, with a $4,000 co-pay. Dishonest about situations where the company would come out looking very bad. Example: Dishonest about departure of employee internally as well as with professional contacts.

There are many reason why a professional relationship do not work out. As with romantic relationships, sometimes things end amicably and sometimes people are left feeling hurt. This was clearly the later, and so I'd strongly advise that the emotion and points here be taken with a grain of salt. People typically say some rather hurtful things when they are upset. The second thing I'd like to note is that 3 years ago, the company was younger, less mature, and while much of this review is hurtful and untrue just for the sake of "sticking it to the man", there are some great points in here which have been taken into account and improved over the last 2-3 years. Always happy to discuss more in person.

Pros

There are snacks and Friday lunch

Cons

First, it's pretty obvious that the recent positive reviews on here are written by the founders, especially since almost the entire sales and marketing team quit in the last month. The founders don't have a long term plan for leading the business and try to squeeze the most work out of employees as possible. Meanwhile funding goals, sales goals and product deadlines aren't being hit. They have questionable business ethics and think it's OK to tell teams to be sneaky, take shortcuts, and cheat the system to get ahead (so I'm not surprised they would post fake reviews on here). The truth is, the culture is not transparent at all (only when it's convenient), the founders have made way too many mistakes to keep up the cute story line of learning from mistakes, and no decent app publisher wants to buy the product. If you are promised leadership opportunity, you will be undermined and won't even get a budget. If you are promised massive sales opportunity, good luck. Goals are never hit and the big name customers that are dropped aren't buying the platform, they buy 'custom' solutions so basically making Apptopia a services company, or they buy contact information to use for prospecting. Don't be fooled in the interview. They will show lots of energy and fake 'transparency' to make it seem authentic, but promises are made that are not kept. Reach out to former employees on LinkedIn if you want to know what you're getting into. If you have any other option at all, go with that.
