Pros

The best thing about this place used to be the people, but the people who made the place great are now gone.

Cons

Every negative review you read here is true. The dysfunction is unbelievable--until you witness it for yourself. All decisions big and small are made by a select few, most of whom are in China. US offices are viewed as a necessary evil and are the first to be gutted when Goldman decides the overhead is too high. Do NOT take a chance on this place. Countless former employees who did, from entry level to C level, all ended up in the same situation: fired without cause. Take heed of what you read on this page, and move on.

Pros

Ping pong table, great people at lower levels, free coffee and soda

Cons

Take every negative comment on here seriously, it is all accurate for all the offices. These comments go back several years, employees years apart complaining about the same things. I am not an employee who has been fired from this company, i left in good standing and still very close to current employees. Any good review about this company is noticeably very generic and is most likely slapped on top of bad reviews by the recruiters and HR... or maybe someone in China (seriously) To begin: 1) The pay is terrible, the main 3 offices in U.S. are Jersey City, Arlington - Virginia, and Chicago... any entry level position at this company you'll need a bunch of roommates or to live with your parents to make it in those areas. Wouldn't be too bad if the job atmosphere wasn't so terrible to begin with and you wasn't sure if you was going to be the next person they fire each week. The salaries posted on here are higher than what you'll get. No matter what your position or title you'll be paid significantly less than someone with the same position in the area at a different company. 2) If you are in any of the Tech positions (Tech solutions professional, analyst, solution architect or engineer) You will get paid a lot less than the industry standards and do way more than you should. And you keep your job by being a good slave. The company treats employees like they are shackled and chained to AvePoint and there is no other options. Every tech position is still sales, so the IT role is a joke, you may get asked to do helpdesk type tasks randomly while trying to help close a deal. Turnover in these positions are very high in comparison to other companies. 3) If you are in marketing... stay away from here its corrupted beyond repair, you may get fired just because they don't currently have money to pay you but they will find some way to justify it. They'll have no marketing team or one person handling it, and marketing overall is terrible for the company and hinder the progress of every other department. Sometimes not even the marketing "team" fault, but standard processes are non-existent and there is no budget to get anything impactful accomplished. Leads are so terrible, most often recycled, and so old when you call in you will get laughed at and hung up on. 4) Sales... The worse position of them all. You can be SMB, Account Executive/Specialist (they change the names whenever they want) or you can be EPG (no one knows what it means). . Account executives and EPG (I heard its major account exec now) share the same territories. Its divided up usually in favor of the EPG and account execs get the leftover scraps. If you are in AvePoint public sector this is even worse because the scraps accounts often can't buy anything because decisions are made on an EPG account, hence an EPG can sell into it and tools will be used on your account and they don't have to split the deal with you. The commission structure is changed ALL the time, without heads up and with no transparency, so that management can come in and dip into your commission when they feel like it. They may also tell you how to divide up your commission with anyone else that stick their nose in your deal. EPGs may or may not get along but they work the same territory, can be good or bad. . The product is hard to sell, its something that a customer may want but rarely a customer will ever need it. The software has competitors who are way cheaper than you, or developers who solve the issues themselves at the company you are trying to sell to. On top of it all its hard to maintain customers because the solutions mess up all the time, often for no reason. You will lose customers you once sold to very quickly. . EPG (major account exec) goals are super inflated and are ridiculously hard to achieve. If you are one of the few that strike big then your good for at least that quarter... do it again next quarter and don't fail because management forgets quickly. Account exec specialist keep scavenging, cold calling and getting micro managed about numbers, dials and set demos. Demos usually mean someone was nice enough to take the time to listen, but are not or cannot buy it. Some managers will even sit nearby and listen to how often they hear you on the phone... . In the highly likely event that you don't hit your quota for a quarter just pray they don't fire you a week later. Pray that they give you an improvement plan then use your pto wisely to find a job somewhere else because 90% of the time there is no coming back from an improvement plan, very rare if you do, and every sales person there knows this. 5) This company can barely be called an American company, everything important is handled in China. It has 1000+ employees, if you visit all American offices you'll be lucky to see 100. This delays everything, causes communication problems, customer issues, money loss from sales, and U.S tech team to catch a lot of blame... amongst a lot of other issues. 6) upper management knows all these issues, they see the glassdoor, and will not do anything to change it. Their approach is to stick a bandaid on a cancer patient and tell them "feel better, stay strong, you have the best care here, no one else will take care of you like we do" 7) To repeat everything that has been said in all the other glassdoors... upper management should not be in their positions. The company is ran by people who are not qualified to run it. They kissed enough butt along the way, played the game of politics and pretended, keyword is pretended, to be good at their job. A lot of good actors in management, very pretentious people. The most conversation you will get out of upper management is when you are being reprimanded (because they study spreadsheets of what your doing) or when you are getting fired. Anyone who brings anything to light will soon be forced out or fired... happens all the time. Upper management inner circle is afraid of their inadequacy being discovered because they know if they were at any other company they will drop 2 or more positions lower. 8) When they do hire someone from outside into higher level positions, they get used and abused, and usually realize how much in bad shape the company is and either A] call a CEO, VP, or director out on it then get fired or forced out.. or B] skipped all that and just left 9) People quit or get fired so regularly and often with no chance not to, that it became a joke. You just shrug it off when you hear a 2 weeks or we let this person go. It doesn't affect you too much until its the people you are close to.... which this will happen quickly and often in your pretty much short avepoint career. The training process is mostly outdated powerpoints that you'll sit and fall asleep at for 2 weeks. Then they'll throw you off the golden gate bridge and tell you swim to China, when you make it there they will give you a silly promotion, a $2k raise and an even more impossible to meet goals 10) management pretends the company is in better shape than it is... but its in awful shape. Lower level employees will get the blame and suffer consequences for the issues and problem upper management cause. Ive seen them close offices and lay off people, with no real explanation and what seemed to be random. A lot of the company tries to piggyback off the partners now to save money. It's the hitchhike a ride with so & so partner approach to marketing, tech, and sales. 11) They don't care about losing employees, they'll just offload the work to someone else without them agreeing to it. The attitude is if you quit AvePoint then you weren't a right "fit" for the company. Chances are they'll hire someone out of college to keep the revolving door going. Its a shame how little they do to help retention. Promotions come to you if they like you... meaning you played the politics and made out with the right person. 12) once again management is terrible, can't emphasize it enough, even the interview process is a joke and you don't realize it til you work for the company. HR department does not care either. So many exit interviews with people ripping apart the faults of the company and year after year its all the same. I'll wait for them to stick some good reviews on top of this.
