Pros

Working with a lot of different clients in different industries; The pay is pretty good for the industry

Cons

A lot of overtime hours with an overwhelming amount of additional responsibilities outside of one's job description, creating massive burnout; Very little company transparency and accountability; Lack of training and new employee on-boarding; Continuous, inconsistent, and baffling process changes, making it hard to keep up and provide high-level service to clients; Major focus on new client acquisitions without thought or care for current clients, resulting in poor customer service, unrealistic client expectations, and an inability to achieve current project goals or hit project budgets; Confusing, atrocious mixed messages from leadership on company processes, policies, and COVID pandemic; Response to COVID pandemic, stay-at-home orders, and working from home was unclear, utterly perplexing at times, and not in keeping with the current city of San Diego's COVID restrictions; No real focus on supporting employees working from home, just a singular focus to get staff into the office as soon as possible even as one staff member tested positive for COVID; No attempt at a work/life balance or culture for employees

Pros

- Great opportunity for new designers to learn and grow, if you are driven - Some good people that work here - Cool office space

Cons

- Very slow to move on latest design trends and technologies. You have to seek this out for yourself if you wish to grow and keep the company up to date. - Imbalance of workload. Some people are working much harder than others and there's not much that can be done about it. - Not the best culture. On paper, it sounds fine, but most days it is all about putting your head down and meeting deadlines. Company-sponsored events happen maybe once or twice a year. Little opportunity to meet others in different departments depending on where you work. - The company puts a large focus on money, which makes sense. But this often happens at the expense of finding the right types of clients and types of work, which ends up hurting many parties in the long run. This applies to client work but also things like employee benefits (or lack thereof). - Senior management adds another complexity to the client feedback loop, making it difficult to pass off a product you can be proud of, and makes the process drag on longer than it should. Often we have to compromise on good design because senior management has an idea that they think will be a better upsell opportunity. - The web design process can be very siloed. Often times the designer just blindly passes off designs to the development team, and a lot of problems occur during and after the website review period.
