    Pros

Some of your coworkers are great. (isn't that everyone's response to pros at a workplace?)

    Cons

Had higher hopes. Just kept going downhill. There is a stench of desperation in all of senior management's decisions.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to run a company.

I have been working at Benefitfocus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits package Bring dogs to work Free Coffee Work from home can be an option depending on role/manager

    Cons

This company simply has no sense of direction or how to manage itself. Over the last couple years I have seen countless leadership changes and reorganizations. I honestly believe that this company thinks that it can fix all its internal issues simply by reorganizing and moving peoples desks around. This fixes nothing but only causes more confusion as people have to relearn who is in charge of what and what team... works on what. There are many employees who have the "thats not my job!" attitude. New employees are often left clueless as their is no actual position training unless you are lucky enough to be on a team that provides power points from 2010. (Don't even bother reading these) The Benefitfocus University training almost seems like a propaganda class that makes you learn all the great things about the company and its leaders. This lasts an entire week! This time should be utilized on developing skills that pertain to ones actual role. How this company is still in business is honestly mind blowing. Deadlines are almost never met for clients. This is frankly due to poor leadership and management unwilling to set standards with carriers/clients and stick with it.

    Pros

Awesome UI/UX support, good benefits, we were in a fantastic space until the CEO decided he wanted the entire floor and cleared us out. Free Coffee.

    Cons

I don't know where to start! The product team here is a complete joke. Product Owners are treated like they are completely worthless and take a beating every single day. The agile processes are broken as management cares more about reporting and trends than actually finishing and delivering products. There is absolutely zero go-to-market strategy, so millions of dollars spent on a project are literally thrown in... the trash when the product never goes live.

    Advice to Management

Sit down and actually listen to the Product team about what is going on. Stop wasting the companies money by treating the department as a joke and throwing millions of hours and dev time away by developing products that will never go live or be adopted. Also, the idea that Product owners have to meet years and years of experience to be Product Managers is ridiculous! Way to kill their motivation. It is a... different set of skills and if someone has it, foster that growth rather than additing to the people walking out the door.

I worked at Benefitfocus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People are wonderful. Lots of collaboration and help from leadership down to across lines of business to help you succeed. Great product and platform.

    Cons

High turnover in leadership creates a constant change in direction from a go to market approach. Morale internally is low due to restructuring and recent layoffs. While the platform is great, there are constant challenges in implementing properly, and servicing clients.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent and provide open and honest communication to your loyal employees.
