Pros

BevSpot has an outstanding idea and a market that is hungry for change. However, it's unlikely at this point that they will be the company to capture the need they have identified in the market and become the industry leader they could have been.

Cons

It took me a long time to decide to write this review. When I had first been let go from BevSpot in the mass layoff this July I was heartbroken, but wished the company the best of luck. They had good financial reasons to downsize it's team as it's sales numbers didn't warrant the size organization they had put in place causing sky high acquisition costs and pressure from the board to adjust course. A lot of bright, talented people lost their jobs on that day. Many of them had been caught up in bad policies that prevented them from succeeding at no fault of their own. These layoffs were caused by systematic failure of the senior team with particular blame falling on the CEO. The lack of transparency, junior leadership skills and rash decision making that lead to that moment was disappointing, but not offensive. Not long after, I saw the article in Bostinno and went from heartbroken to flabbergasted. It is a truly disgusting thing to see a CEO lay the onus for creating a successful model on their former employees. The truth is not that 17% of your workforce "weren't...at the level we needed them to," but that your expectations were based in fantasy, not fact. This article damaged the reputations of hardworking people who gave there all to help BevSpot succeed and when the light shone on this terrible moment the CEO's response was to throw them further down to avoid any poor reflection on himself. Which brings us to the core point of this post. BevSpot's CEO is not just dishonest; He's delusional. This entire business is not about providing value to an industry, a career for people, or profits for a board. This business is centered around the ego of 1 man whose only true goal is to be seen as brilliant in the venture community regardless of who he must cut down to accomplish his goal. Unless you're in the mood to follow someone who will use your ability, steal your ideas then cut you down publicly steer clear.

Pros

- It was a truly amazing company, I would've rated it 10 stars just a few months ago if I could have.

Cons

- They will choose dollars over culture every single time.

Pros

Awesome t-shirts, unlimited vacation time, good benefits, nice perks. BevSpot was at one time an amazing place to work. Management was transparent, seemingly honest, culture was a priority, and there was a team-focused mentality. This all took place in an energetic, fast-paced atmosphere, focused on a fun and relevant industry. In a very short amount of time, this all changed (with the exception of the industry).

Cons

Transparency was the first thing to crash and burn. This was probably the most disappointing given that it was something that truly set this company apart from others. The CEO was open, honest, and approachable. That all suddenly changed when a number of people were laid off with absolutely no warning. The once transparent culture might have warned the team that if things didn't improve, layoffs were coming. Instead there was a mask of celebrations and parties, followed by sudden layoffs that were later distastefully and publicly claimed to be "performance related." Along with transparency went the entire culture. No more respect for one another's ideas and no more trust.
