Pros

Technology is very important to the owner.

Cons

Bad compensation. High turnover rate. Vacation is bad and lacking. You will work 50+ hours at times. Management has communication issues. Favoritism with certain employee. All of the best workers left. Fast paced work is a must. No time to think. The staff has a a bad attitude because of so much work.

Thank you for your review! We do pride ourselves on staying current with technology, but not for the sake of technology itself. Big Visual Group’s desire to be a turnkey solution for our clients and our investment in current and emerging technologies keeps us ahead of our competition, delivers new solutions to our clients, and makes work easier and more efficient for our staff! We believe that our compensation and benefits exceed those of other companies in our field and, while we are certainly not without our fair share of struggles in the communication department, we know how important good communication is and stress that importance consistently to all employees. We love our staff and currently have an excellent roster of talented, creative, and hardworking employees. Our work is fast-paced and usually deadline driven, but also varied, creative, and rewarding when we see it downtown or on live TV!

Everyone's mistakes are your responsibility

Pros

Shop is clean. Up to date software and hardware. There is a pool if you dont mind coworkers seeing you and significant other in a swimsuit.

Cons

Expect to know everyone else's job and correct their mistakes. Dont dare make your own mistake but clean up after every other department. There is little to no training with a vast amount of in-house information you need to know. The amount of rush orders permitted to come through makes it highly stressful and not enough time to do your job correctly.

Thank you for your review! We do keep a very clean shop and pride ourselves on staying current with technology, equipment, and tools that make work easier for our staff and projects more efficient for our clients. And we love that staff can take advantage of our pools anytime — and reserve them for a private family pool party on the weekend! You are also right in that we have a lot of in-house information. As a custom sign shop, constantly seeking new technologies and methodologies there really isn’t a quick and easy how-to manual for us. We seek to employ creative self-starters who are focused on problem-solving and providing a quality product for Big Visual Group’s customers. That speaks to the rushes as well, we work with a lot of large events in Nashville and around the nation — all of which are very time sensitive. With the help of our talented staff we help our clients launch numerous successful events throughout the year.

Pros

The company kept up with current technologies (computers, software, printing presses) and design trends. The organizational systems in place made for clear workflow.

Cons

It was a very impersonal job. Sales people would regularly get large bonuses or commissions while the employees working to fulfill those large last minute orders would see no additional incentives, but were required to stay very late or come in hours early to meet deadlines. There seemed to be clear favoritism. Overall pay was mediocre and benefits were thin. The health insurance offered was cost prohibitive. The 401k match wasn't great, and they did not offer vacation or sick days. You had to use PTO for anything that would cause you to miss work. The PTO scaled with years worked and if the company decided to shut down for multiple days during a holiday, you would only get paid for the day of the holiday but would not be compensated for any other days they decided to not be open therefore you would have to use your hard earned PTO because the owner decided to shut down.
