Pros
Got to travel and see parts of California only a select few will ever see. Field Management was awesome and super supportive. Get to work with some awesome equipment.
Cons
Travel is 100% of the job if doing fieldwork so living out of Hotels is all you'll do for months on end unless you take uPTO. Work can and will stop at any time. All of these things are fine (I knew it going in) but the new kids on the block were usually never given any indication of this and were shocked.
