This is the worst IT consulting company I have ever worked for. Should have seen this coming a mile away when the recruiter wouldn't return my calls for several days at a time during the negotiation phase. Don't worry, you will most likely experience this if you are fortunate enough. Terrible communication and careless attitude from the central office. These guys are pros when it comes to bait and switch techniques. Top management and PMs solely rely on senior managers for feedback, feedback from non-managerial employees are totally disregarded and carry no value. Overall, a very toxic work environment. People seemed very fearful and would carefully watch what they said to others. Extremely high turnover throughout the company. Someone was leaving the company every two weeks. Sweat shop like work conditions. Working through lunch and staying late after work were the norms. Lots and lots of paperwork. Technically unchallenging work. Tedious and redundant processes. Very very high expectations from employees. Absolutely no room for errors. No standardization of processes. Just a huge mess. Totally male dominated work force. I have never worked at any other place that has such a small percentage of women working. All that shines is not gold, and this statement can not be any truer than when it comes to Blue Canopy. It truly lacks substance. With such weak foundations, lack of integrity, disorganization, no foresight, and disregard for genuine hard work and their employees, I can't imagine this company surviving more than a decade, or being successful at it. My advice for you is to not take any job offer from Blue Canopy under any circumstances. You will learn pretty much nothing, will get bombarded with redundant and tedious work, get no training whatsoever about the internal processes of your assigned team. You will absolutely mean nothing to this company. You are seen as a tool that is only there to get the tasks done instead of a human being. Do not believe anything they tell you. They will promise you the world to get you in. This place is a trap, stay away.

A jumbled mess of a company

Pros

Training package: 3-5k in benefits (see cons) Company Functions: Plentiful but are usually cliche' . Apparently lavish holiday party this year. Been an employee for 3 years and am currently interviewing as are others. That is a PRO for sure.

Cons

Leadership: Only one technical partner in the whole company. Not sure what the other partners do, I have only been to HQ on a handful of times and only ever hear them laughing and congratulating themselves on things or gossiping. Like I said, only one technical partner in the group, he was apparently in and out of the hospital quite often. No doubt from stress and overwork. The other partners are largely buzz-words and paperwork types. None of them have actually landed any new contracts from what anyone can tell. None of them have actually done the kind of work they oversee. Only 2 or 3 technical Directors the rest are timesheet and powerpoint types. How is this possible in an alleged technology company? Cyber Security: (D-) Three main contracts, all Compliance and IV&V (pass on that) with some small SOC work. I had heard from a friend that they were doing some exciting things. I applied and it took almost a YEAR before I came aboard. Recruiting is slow, salary was way lower (circa 2005 compensation offer) than industry. When I finally did get a solid offer and asked some questions I was told "You really going to haggle after all the work that we've done to accommodate you?" When I finally got to the job site, I asked about the teams my friend mentioned; Red Team, External PenTest, Forensics, Malware, etc. it seems all those groups were gone. The newly minted partner in charge was not a cyber guy. Huh? Nice enough guy but only has about five minutes of industry experience. Lots of buzzwords. Likes to talk like he's in the know, but comes off as silly. Asked my manager (Director) about developing new offerings, was told "We don't pay you to do that". What is that saying about the definition of insanity? DoD and Other: (D-) Based on the monthly company newsletter this group is the main focus of the company and is the main source of income. This kind of contradicts what has been said in the "All Hands" calls that have occurred over the years. Cyber is the growth engine , yet it got the least amount of recognition. Must be some formula that we were not informed about. "All Hands" calls are a mixture of accounting jargon and mention of other contracts, partners and the wonderful things they are doing. No mention of the Cyber teams and their successes. Same goes for the newsletter. Corporate Climate: (D-) One of the corporate offerings is "Agile Development". Seriously? Google search return over 3 million companies offering this. Is this a cyber company? Company website is bush league, was embarrassed to send my friends to it. Frightening amount of gossip and in-fighting at the corporate level. I'm glad I work offsite. No business development or sales group that I know of. All contracts have either been acquired or legacy. Innovation: (D+) Have heard repeatedly over the years that we were AWS partner and that we were FEDRAMP certifiers. Very little in the way of internal messaging and product promotion. Gave up asking how to get involved when I found out that the same 5 or 6 people that were always doing everything (proposals, tech refreshes, etc) were also responsible for selling FEDRAMP as well. Heard about the internal R&D group at my orientation, saw one of their products once. I asked about where their products are sold and my supervisor said were weren't actually selling them anywhere. Training Package: (F) Applied for training early in 2015, was told I could not go because I needed to keep up my billable hours but that I should apply again in the summer. When I submitted again the following July, was told that all training was halted for the fourth quarter for some unknown reason. Just found out that training is on hold again. ((Strike Two)) Advice to new employees that want to make partner, here is the formula: - Get your PMP and ask to be Deputy PM - Do the PM's job for him/her - Wait until they make a mistake and ask to replace them - Maintain the contract for a year or two - Talk about sports constantly at company functions - Talk about how you have maintained the contract very often Voila! You will be considered for partner in less than two years and you will not have had to actually do anything.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

Pros

There isn't much - except there are still some good employees who remain - though many have quit and more are looking to leave right now.

Cons

My advice to anyone out there is to stay clear of this company - RUN AWAY. This company is famous for the bait & switch - as soon as you come on board you'll see the job was nothing like you expected. Outside of maybe 3-4 Partners, the rest are lazy, do-nothing bums who barely lift a finger. The owners are about a deceitful and dishonest as there are in the industry. They don't value the employee base - hard work and proven results are overlooked and unappreciated - and Partners will take all the credit when they've done absolutely nothing. Turnover is a HUGE problem - over 30% off staff resigned in the last year alone. This is a company that has graduated as a Small Business and can't compete against the Large Business entities - there's no defined niche and the processes are seriously flawed internally. Again - STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - it's a sinking ship.
