Pros

the cultural experience is dependent on who your direct supervisor is. the staunch adherence to a traditional hierarchical structure provides alot of clarity into expectations. This is an organization where your people skills and the ability to "fit in" are directly tied to your job performance. The work is easy as long as you do it "the BE way" any other way is not in alignment with the org's needs. Its a nonprofit that's basically a start up so the work amount/expectations/management support reflect that.

Cons

This nonprofit operates just like a charter school that's also a forprofit corporation. if that's not what you're looking for, this is a bad thing, but if you are comfortable navigating the personalities and expectations typical in this environment then you will succeed here. Be sure to ask about what success looks like in _____ role during the interview process, what you see/hear during that process is exactly what it will be. on the quest to being self-funded, BE is very much lead gen/revenue oriented. if you're looking for a "woke" or advocacy organization, BE isn't that. if you are looking for an environment where your manager is held accountable to supporting you in your work, be sure to clarify what that means before accepting the offer. BE has alot of change-fatigue, so patience is key but the fundamentals of the org culture are not going to change anytime soon, given the revenue priorities. if corporate culture and "playing the game" aren't for you, don't waste your time. if you need managers that treat you like a person first and feel that it's their job to set you up for success, BE doesn't have the capacity to provide that.
