Pros

- One of the fewer restaurant manager positions I have held that had a good work/life balance. - Great concepts for food

Cons

I was employed by Border Cafe for six years. Started out serving and worked my way up to Bartender. After a year I was asked If I would be interested in management which I gladly excepted. Unfortunately my downfall was when I accepted the management role. I was sent to their Burlington location where I had 9 General Managers in the fours years I was there. The experience I dealt with made me never want to go back into management again. I was bullied by the corporate management. By my third year in management I was introduced to their new ceo. He had never worked in the business before and was as lost as anyone could ever be. On top of that the owner of the company was completely unapproachable. Basically when he came in everyone had to pretend he wasn't there. I guess I should have known that this was an early indication of what I was getting into. After six years with the company I was asked to basically leave. The problem I had with this was that I was told this by a brand new GM whom I barely even knew. Now here comes the shaky part. I was technically "let go" or laid off but when they filled out the paper work on their part it stated that I left to pursue other career opportunities. So long story short this is not a company that I would ever recommend to anyone. They are an unorganized and disjointed company with a terrible corporate structure. I saw someone else write that it was the blind leading the blind and they couldn't be more right. I Just want people to know that if you are looking for a company to grow with that this is not a place to work. So if you are looking for a management role beware this company is not a place where you are able to grow. As a matter of fact they recently just cleared house on all managers and brought in everyone from a local failing restaurant called paperazi. They did this several times before with cheesecake then the outback....
