Pros

Fantastic coworkers in fellow account mangers in the client services department, and the media traders are always ready to jump in- thanks!

Cons

Been wrestling with posting for a while now, but for the most part...I must report the same issues from the first review. I am also a current employee and feeling discouraged/disheartened with the disconnect between our department and upper management. I have been with the company now for some time and have voiced many of the same concerns about work load and overall lack of accountability from other departments. It does not seem to have escalated to upper management to affect any tangible change. I would not feel comfortable going to either of the cofounders or the COO with these concerns. I don't know them well enough to jump above my immediate supervisors, and not having an outlet to voice concerns about internal management within our department is concerning. In an ideal world, an open door policy would be great...but it seems ideological at best. With no anonymity, what assurances are there that anyone's future growth may be hindered by voicing concerns that have been unaddressed? I want to acknowledge many of the benefits highlighted in the company, but also want to point out that these benefits come at a trade off. Although pizza and coffee stipends are nice perks...I would rather have the company provide me with a dedicated work phone. To my knowledge, no one is provided with a work phone and I have to use me personal phone for work. I have been called at all hours of the day/night as clients are in different time zones. This allows for zero separation from work and personal time and I have had to change my personal VM to be BrkThru message. We are not compensated for this in any way. Further, we have no compensation for internet expenses working from home. Again...appreciate the perks offered, but the fundamental basics...a dedicated work phone and reimbursement for internet would be much better than pizza, coffee, trivia, and gifts from the sales team.

Thank you for the feedback. It sounds like you read the first review and our response. I’d like to encourage you to reach out to our co-founders, COO or myself as we truly want to hear from you so we can have a conversation to understand. We do mean that we have an open door policy and welcome constructive feedback. We don't have a culture of retribution and in fact, I can speak to being one of the people who has spoken up to our co-founders and COO about an issue, and they addressed it immediately. If I did that anonymously, it would've been difficult to tackle. In order to make anything work or possibly change, all parties need to believe and work towards our core values of caring, trust and communication. We will give you an honest answer on the spot and be able to have a dialogue around your concerns. To answer your benefits suggestion, the good news is that we have already been planning to roll out phone/internet expenses. Stay tuned, it’s in the works!

Pros

Remote work, great pay, benefits good

Cons

Same as any other job as far as people and how they act (people are not trustworthy, forget communication involves listening, take credit for others ideas, etc)

A company that’s just scratching surface of where it’s headed. Remote work. Great benefits. Smart leadership.

Cons

Still a young company. Moves quickly.

Overall an OK Company

Pros

Working remotely is great and going to the off-sites can be a task, but it is really valuable. While there is a bit of travel I think the time to be with the company and your departments are sincerely worth it. Andrew and Jeff have prepared for a recession and I feel confident that the company will get through unscathed. The core values are adhered to with most everyone I have worked with on a day to day basis, I think it is easy to say that a company has core values but consistently following them is another.

Cons

I was decently happy with the company for a long time. However my opinions have changed after having been with the company over the course of several years. From an advancement perspective, in my department at least, there has been a lack of coaching. I specifically said to my direct supervisor that I wanted to advance but I needed coaching for certain situations. My supervisor was really too busy to take that on which just kind of left me in no man’s land moving along with day to day tasks. My inkling is that my supervisor also lacks coaching from executive leadership and executive leadership may not have a clear understanding of what our departmental needs actually are. From a benefits perspective, company wide, our perks and benefits we once enjoyed have been scaled back in a major way. I’m sure some of this could be due to economic preparation - which is totally great - I trust Andrew and Jeff to steer us through difficult situations as they did when the pandemic happened. However there has been zero transparency about any of the benefits that have changed. When I started the bonus structure was very different from what it is now. It changed days before we got Q1 bonuses in 2021, they sent us paperwork to sign stating our bonuses would be capped at a certain percentage. We had to sign the paperwork and send it back or we wouldn’t get our bonuses. This after a year of not receiving quarterly bonuses because of the pandemic. I never really heard a reason why that changed. We used to have over 20 paid holidays, that was reduced by half. This was never acknowledged in any way and I have no idea why it changed so drastically, but it was one of the selling points of the company to me initially. They are giving employees with 5 years, 5 additional days of PTO, it would have been beneficial if they presented it as a trade off instead of just never addressing it. We have previously gotten a yearly profit share, in 2023 that didn’t happen, which again may be preparing for a looming recession, but it would have been nice if there was transparency about it. I asked my supervisor and never got an answer. As the company has scaled things have changed, which of course is to be expected, but it feels frustrating when there has been no communication on changes that impact everyone.

We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to speak with one of our executive leaders to have a conversation as any of our leaders are more than happy to listen. Brkthru is a growing company, and Andrew/Jeff take great care in looking after the wellbeing of our people and our business that is true. While they are certainly aware of the current state of our economy, they are not worried about it having a direct impact on Brkthru at this time. In fact, while many companies are unfortunately letting people go, Brkthru is hiring, and we even recently hired a recruiter and CRO. Brkthru will continue to grow, which will create more opportunities for our teammates to advance, train and learn. Andrew/Jeff also invested in an in-person training program this year for all employees, which points to their confidence in our future. We agree with you that our core values are what makes us unique and guides our decisions – we live and breathe them daily, and it’s nice to know that they aren’t just words on a piece of paper. At Brkthru, we have a “roadmap to success” for each individual, so your supervisor should be able to walk you through it. If you haven’t seen it, please ask as we expect that supervisors are having regular conversations with their direct reports regarding performance and development. You may also reach out to Org Management for additional coaching and/or conversations about your career path. Regarding benefits, we have made a few changes to streamline processes and policies, but we still enjoy many perks such as Summer Fridays, Pizza Fridays, Coffee Tuesdays, multiple in-person gatherings, bonuses, Brktime, parental leave, milestone gifts, pet insurance, volunteer time and BTU. Our holiday schedule and PTO have been addressed (even on Glassdoor previously). The holiday schedule is evaluated each year, and leadership looks at how the days fall on the calendar to determine which days to close to allow us to continue to provide exceptional service to our clients. We also added a floating holiday this year, so that you may take off a day that is important to you. Our bonus structure has evolved, and we completed a thorough salary analysis resulting in 2-3X salary increases across all departments. Profit sharing is not guaranteed, and Andrew/Jeff are generous to give back to their employees whenever possible. Profit sharing was given in the middle of a pandemic! We do hear you regarding communication, and as we continue to grow, we know that it is vital to our success. Brkthru will continue to grow in 2023 and beyond, and we are excited to help our teams and clients achieve their goals!
