The NY newsroom had a toxic culture that included repeated instances of inappropriate and discriminatory behavior that newsroom leadership and HR failed to address and stop it. Employees who raised concerns about the work environment were not supported, and in some cases appeared to face retaliation or negative consequences for speaking up. This created a culture where people were discouraged from reporting issues. There was also a pattern of certain managers exercising authority in ways that felt punitive or unnecessary, which contributed to a hostile and intimidating environment. Overall, this was one of the most difficult workplaces I’ve experienced, and the lack of accountability from senior leadership allowed these issues to continue.

There is a horrible idea about work-life balance at the company. Many people work over their lunch break even though they aren't supposed to. There is a horrible culture around training and handing off to others. The company is not clear on the guidelines and expectations within the role. You feel punished for going above and beyond at times, at the call of duty. The company is behind the curve on the latest use cases. Senior management can be a pain in the butt to work with
