Pros

Benefits are on par with industry, great designs and employee discount, young and energetic entry level staff, salaries are always timely.

Cons

Before I begin, I implore you to read the negative reviews on this page. And then I assure you - yes they are correct. This store has a problem. And this company as a whole has a problem for failing to put a check on their management in all these years of poor treatment of employees. The employee turnover here can only be compared to a revolving door in a busy hotel. The joining and leaving is frequent enough that it cannot be denied that it might even be a part of the business strategy to leverage new unsuspecting staff for profits before they run out of ammo and then it's time for next one. The work environment is fairly toxic and demoralizing, it starts from upper management and impacts everyone's productivity from top to bottom. If you are starting out your career, you do not want to work for a company like CB2 as it’s only going to reinforce your negative stereotypes about retail industry. The store has a strict customer first policy, by that I mean be prepared to always get thrown under the bus and have your dignity sacrificed to entertain entitled customers who have been time and again assured through actions it is okay to lie and scape goat an associate to take out personal frustration because the Store will blame employee without any proof anyway. In fact, I suspect they rejoice at it and will lap at every chance to humiliate anyone on personal level, offering zero constructive criticism and carrying the conversation in a way that is most damaging to self esteem of young professionals. If the company used some of those employee benefits to cure the sadistic streaks running in the upper management, maybe that would prevent employees from constantly leaving. There is no real career to be made here, the pay is extremely poor compared to market no matter what the position is. There is no personal growth, no proactive supervisory support to develop staff skills and over all no interest by management to retain good talent or any talent for that matter. When the managers themselves think employees are just easily replaceable pieces, you know you have ended up with the worst kind of company. My advice to you is if you are that much in need of money, join a company that just cares about you showing up for hours and does not derive pleasure from harassing you. It’s not worth the money, and it’s definitely not worth sacrificing your personal well being for a company that places zero value on loyalty.

Pros

Nice co workers Some cool product

Cons

Management is terrible from top down. Not to mention that while their prices steadily increase, the quality stays exactly the same- which is subpar. No one cares if it's pretty if it falls apart in 6 months. When business is slow and sales are plummeting, they refuse to do some self reflection to see that their ineptitude is the culprit! They seriously need to hire financial advisors and market researchers. Maybe stop opening store after store if you cannot afford to pay people in existing stores a livable wage. Maybe stop planning elaborate "events" when you can't afford cleaners. I am convinced that every higher up is where they are because they knew someone. They let bad situations fester until things become dire. Concerns go unheard until people have reached their limit and quit. Once that happens, management goes into damage control mode, but by that time it's too late. I would never recommend this job to an adult looking for a career. It's okay as a part-time position for a student, but so is a job at Whole Foods or Target. Both of which pay about the same for about half the effort. Unless you are looking for a job that underpays and expects you to do the job of three people, stay away from CB2.

Pros

Discount, design, quality, learned a lot.

Cons

Where do I begin? I worked for Crate&Barrel for 4 years. I LOVED it. Great culture. Amazing product. Great opportunity to make a real living. And then Euromarket took over. Reorganization is what it was sold as. I had a dear colleague, 20 year veteran, was asked to reapply for her position. Once rehired, she was given the highest hourly available 13.00 and hour with no hope of real opportunity to make up the 25.00 and hour she had earned with raises over that time and was being snatched away by a greedy corporate overlord. She was 60 years old. How shameful. So, I decided to give CB2 a chance. With my experience with the company and my vast experience after leaving the company. The best they could come up with was 10.25 and hour plus some made up unknown “store bonus”, which I never saw! The best they could do for someone of my top selling skills, is put me in part time fill in close shifts. And I still out sold full time employees. When I was scheduled to close one evening, I was assigned cleaning the public toilets. Ok, let me get this straight, you want me to provide world class service, check. You want me to dress to impress. Check. And then clean the public’s toilets when I’m done. For minimum wage. Also, here is tip for young managers, you don’t know everything. And a dismissive or superior attitude, very unbecoming. Well, it’s Crate&Barrel and CB2 who loses. Your not properly paying folks a living wage. Embarrassing. And makes me very sad. Please do not respond with your pretend we care about your opinion canned answer Crate. Do some soul searching and PAY you associates!!
